Meet ATFK, the ‘envelope-pushing’ untethered brainchild of Amy Thatcher and Francesca Knowles.

This genre-blasting duo defy the preconceptions of what their instruments can do, breaking with tradition while tactfully adopting their folk roots as a playground for experimentation. ATFK's sound is one of both raucous energy and sympathetic intensity, combining piano accordion, drums, synths and vocals for an unapologetic brew of colourful composition which channels influences from jazz, prog, EDM and beyond.

Their debut album Emergency of the Female Kind (2023) kicked off this two-woman genre revolution: reflecting on themes of female identity, activism, sexuality, and local pride, it showcased a spectrum of human-ness rarely captured in 46 minutes.

Alongside national tours and festival showcases, ATFK have enjoyed radio support from a broad spectrum of shows across BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, and 6 Music, for which they’ve curated an exclusive Freak Zone Playlist.
